Marvel vs. Capcom 3: Fate of Two Worlds
Marvel vs. Capcom 3: Fate of Two Worlds is the 2011 Capcom and Eighting crossover that finally moved the series off sprite work and onto cel-shaded 3D models. It is the fifth main entry, ten years after Marvel vs. Capcom 2, and the first to use a simplified three-button attack layout borrowed from producer Ryota Niitsuma's earlier Tatsunoko vs. Capcom: Ultimate All-Stars.
Teams of three trade in and out through assists, X-Factor comebacks, and team hyper combinations, with the launch roster splitting evenly between Capcom mainstays like Ryu, Morrigan, and Dante and Marvel heavyweights like Wolverine, Iron Man, and Doctor Doom. Two million units shipped in the first month, critics praised the gameplay and presentation while flagging the thin mode list, and Capcom answered ten months later with Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3 to flesh the package out.
