Marvel vs. Capcom: Clash of Super Heroes
Marvel vs. Capcom: Clash of Super Heroes is the 1998 Capcom crossover that pits Marvel icons against Capcom mascots in two-on-two arcade chaos. Released on PlayStation in 1999, it brings hyper-fast combos, air dashes, and screen-filling supers built on the engine refined through X-Men vs. Street Fighter and Marvel Super Heroes vs. Street Fighter. The cartoon-bright sprite work and pounding announcer calls give every match real arcade swagger.
The roster pulls Ryu, Chun-Li, Morrigan, and Mega Man against Wolverine, Spider-Man, Hulk, and Captain America, with random Special Partner assists from Arthur, Lou, Saki, and others adding chaos to every set. The PlayStation port swaps the arcade tag system for a Crossover mode where both teams mirror each other, a workaround for console memory that fans still trade stories about. As the bridge between MSH and MvC2, it remains a defining moment for the fighting game genre.
