X-Men: Children of the Atom

X-Men: Children of the Atom is Capcom's 1994 arcade fighter, the game that proved Marvel and Capcom belonged in the same ring and quietly birthed the entire Vs. series. Riding the wave of the mid-90s X-Men animated show, it imports voice actors straight from the cartoon and lets you pick from Wolverine, Cyclops, Storm, Psylocke, Iceman, Colossus, Rogue, Spiral, Silver Samurai and a returning Sentinel.

Mutant powers fuel the moveset, with super jumps, air combos and screen-filling X-Power supers pushing the CPS-2 board harder than Street Fighter ever did. Juggernaut and Magneto wait at the end as bosses, and the game eventually ported to Saturn, PlayStation and DOS. Children of the Atom is required reading for anyone tracing the lineage from MSH to Marvel vs Capcom 3.
