Capcom vs. SNK 2: Mark of the Millennium 2001
Capcom vs. SNK 2: Mark of the Millennium 2001 is the crown jewel of Capcom's crossover era, a 2001 arcade fighting game that pits 48 fighters from both rosters against each other on Sega NAOMI hardware. The Groove Select system lets you pick from six battle styles lifted straight from Street Fighter and KOF history, so you can run Ryu with a Super Cancel meter or play Iori with a roll and short jump.
Ryu, Ken, Sakura, and Vega cross fists with Terry, Iori, Mai, and Geese across stages packed with cameos and remixed themes. Dreamcast, PlayStation 2, and PS3 ports followed, with the GameCube and Xbox getting the EO revision. CvS2 still anchors tournament side events two decades later, and its ratio system and tier shenanigans give competitive players plenty to argue about.
