Savage Reign
Savage Reign is SNK's 1995 Neo Geo weapons fighter, twelve combatants swinging blades, claws, and exotic gear across stages built to be played, not just stood on. The two-plane system carries over from the Fatal Fury lineage, letting fighters hop the back rail by climbing pipes or scrambling up to higher ground, and projectile-based attacks can chase opponents between planes or rebound off the geometry.
Stage hazards do real work here. Falling stalactites, lava jets, and knock-down spotlights all turn arenas into a third combatant. Carol, Hayate, Gozu, Mezu, and the rest of the cast each bring weapon-specific spacing tools, so footsies look very different from the standard Neo Geo punch-and-kick template. It is the rougher, weirder cousin to Fatal Fury, and the one that set up Kizuna Encounter a year later.
