The Last Blade 2 is SNK's 1998 follow-up to the original Last Blade and arguably the most refined 2D weapon fighting game on the Neo Geo. The Bakumatsu-era setting trades samurai melodrama for something quieter and meaner, with swords, naginatas, fishing poles, and even prayer beads as legitimate weapons. Sprite work and parallax backgrounds are some of the best SNK ever produced, and the soundtrack carries that late-Neo Geo melancholy that fans still talk about.

Fighters pick between Power and Speed styles at character select, which changes how their normals chain and whether they can rapid-cancel into specials. Repel parries, deflects, and the new EX mode give it more defensive options than most games of its era. The roster grows to twenty-four with returning faces like Kaede, Yuki, Moriya, and Akari, plus newcomers Hibiki and Kojiroh. The PS4, Switch, and Wii ports keep online play alive.
