Real Bout Fatal Fury Special arrives in 1997 as SNK's polish pass on the Real Bout formula, sharpening the two-plane fighting that defined the Fatal Fury arcade lineage. The two-line battle system lets you sidestep into the foreground or background, and the combo timing tightens up just enough to reward players who know when to break ring-out walls and when to play patient.

The 23-fighter roster brings back the Real Bout cast and folds in Tung Fu Rue, Cheng Sinzan, Laurence Blood, and Wolfgang Krauser as the new final boss. Geese Howard returns as a hidden Nightmare Match opponent and unlocks as a playable character on Neo Geo AES, Saturn, and Wii Virtual Console releases. Hidden EX versions of Tung, Billy, Blue Mary, and Andy round out one of the deepest Fatal Fury rosters SNK ever assembled.
